We compare numerical simulation of instability of weakly nonlinear standing waves on the surface of deep fluid in the framework of the primordial dynamical equations and in a laboratory wave tank experiment.
The instability offers a new approach for generation of nearly isotropic spectrum using parametric excitation. Direct measurements of spacial Fourier spectrum confirm existence of the instability in a real life conditions for gravity-capillary waves.
